Judge Irina Polyakova has gotten married and is expecting a child. She has been assigned a rather easy and obviously exculpatory case - to judge doctor Ulyana Tikhodolskaya, who killed her attacker while trying to escape. Newspapers write that the woman should be acquitted, and in defense of her colleague - a talented obstetrician-gynecologist - signatures have been gathered from doctors in Leningrad. But one of the jurors uncovers something quite strange from Ulyana's past, and the judge begins to waver…
