In 1981, Vladislav Krapivin wrote the novel "The Crane and the Lightning" – a mesmerizing story about growing up, friendship, and the search for oneself. At that time, the writer's books had already enjoyed tremendous success, but this particular work held a special place among them. Krapivin defined "The Crane and the Lightning" as a "novel for children and adults." The main character, eleven-year-old Yurka Zhuravin, nicknamed Zhurka, moves with his parents to another city and faces situations that place him before serious moral choices. The pure and bright world of a child contrasts with the "lightnings" of real adult life. Zhurka experiences the pain of loss, fear, betrayal, but remains true to himself and his friends, open and honest.
