This picture book teaches children that they are entitled to feel any emotions and sometimes need to be alone to learn to accept them. It also teaches not to devalue the feelings and emotions of others.

One day, Jim woke up in a terrible mood for no reason at all. The sky was too blue, the sun was too bright, and even the bananas were too sweet. His friends couldn’t understand because today is SUCH a wonderful day! One by one, they give him advice on what to do: jump, dance, sing, lie in the grass… But Jim only feels worse. Maybe he just needs one day to be in a bad mood? Maybe today is a great day to just feel sad?
