The Latin name of this plant translates to "flower of the sun," and this is justified, as its floral basket bears undeniable resemblance to the sun; moreover, the plant demonstrates the ability to turn its inflorescences towards the celestial body.... Coming from the American continent, in Russia the sunflower not only found a second homeland but also experienced a second birth, significantly changing its appearance and revealing its main secret – sunflower oil, which is hence called "Russian" all over the world.
