The primer summarizes the thirty years of the author's experience in teaching reading to children from the age of five in Russia and abroad. It is based on the requirements of speech therapy, principles of psycholinguistics, and developmental education. The foundation of reading instruction lies in the synthesis of methodical and global reading approaches. The reading material is systematically structured in strict accordance with scientific requirements for the gradual complexity of all aspects of written speech. The primer teaches not only to read but also to speak correctly: to construct sentences, to practice grammatical constructions systematically, and to expand vocabulary. The primer teaches logical thinking and observation of language phenomena. The primer fosters motivation for reading. It also helps children with speech therapy problems to avoid secondary writing and reading difficulties. The primer can be used by both educators and parents; it is simple and easy to understand.
