“This is our best book,” wrote E. Hemingway, “all American literature came out of it.” Mark Twain's main book, “The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn,” which the author worked on for about ten years, is a continuation of “The Adventures of Tom Sawyer.” The main character is a vagabond boy—a man with a big heart and an unbridled love of freedom, within whom contradictions rage: he understands the traditional Southern attitude toward slavery, but at the same time is ready to sacrifice much for his friend. When he meets the slave Jim, the boy cannot even imagine what adventures this meeting will bring him… This book is about friendship, justice, and the principles of goodness, about the right to freedom for all, regardless of social standing and skin color, and, of course, about the incredible adventures of two friends unfolding against the backdrop of the Mississippi River.
