Уральские сказы и легенды

Ural legends and tales became widely known thanks to the "Secret Tales" of Pavel Bazhov, based on the folklore of miners and gold diggers (largely a product of the imagination of the great storyteller).
But the Ural land gave rise to other mysterious traditions: legends of the mighty Ural taiga and tales related to the Ural mountains, stories of the boundless steppes of Pre-Uralia, historical folklore. Many celebrated writers collected them: philologist and folklorist Vladimir Dal, creator of the saga "Gloomy River" Vyacheslav Shishkov, writer and traveler Vasily Nemirovich-Danchenko, author of "The Gray Goose" and "Alenushka's Tales" Dmitry Mamin-Siberiak, as well as other singers of the treasures of the Ural land.
Our collection of tales, myths, and legends of the Urals, which will be a great addition to the "Malachite Box," is illustrated with masterpieces by famous Russian artists: Apollinary Vasnetsov, Mikhail Nesterov, Pyotr Vereshchagin, and others.
